Right relatedness: Mark Whitwell: Male authority and pervasive sexual abuse

Mark Whitwell interview, where he's asked about the Kausthub Desikachar scandal and aspects of Krishnamacharya's teaching

A couple of things he stresses in the interview

'Brahmacharya, the study of Brahma through related practices'

'The best cave for yoga is a pleasurable family life' ( OK I cringed at this one a little but then the texts do talk about practicing yoga in settled kingdoms, somewhere safe, not in a forest with wild beasts. i guess a pleasurable family life is a 'safe space').

'Real yoga for real people'

'A right yoga for every person'

'Adapt the yoga to the individual not the individual to the yoga'

from Mark Whitwell's website Heart of Yoga

"Mark is interested in developing an authentic yoga practice for the individual, based on the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar, with whom he enjoyed a relationship for more than twenty years. Mark’s teachings clarify the profound passion and relevance of ancient wisdom to contemporary life.
Mark has taught yoga for over twenty years throughout the US, Asia, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Mark was the editor and contributor to TKV Desikachar’s book, “The Heart of Yoga,” as well as the author of Yoga of Heart: The Healing Power of Intimate Connection and Hridayasutra"..
