You might know Mark Singleton from his earlier book Yoga Body: The Origins of Modern Posture Practice, which caused quite a stir when it came out. I found it interesting, challenging, never a bad thing, he has a new project.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
What is it?
We (Mark Singleton and James Mallinson) are putting together a new sourcebook of yoga texts from the Indian traditions. Entitled Roots of Yoga, the book will make available for the first time in a single volume many of the most important primary texts of yoga through the ages. All the translations will be our own and many will be from texts not previously translated. Roots of Yoga will be arranged thematically and highlight the major historical moments of yoga's evolution within the Indian subcontinent (from about 500BCE to 1750CE), showing the continuities, disjunctions and developments that have characterized its theory and practice across the centuries.

That would be so awesome to get my hands on. It would be so much easier than fumbling through multiple books. :)
This looks like it should be very interesting!
In the same vein, though more limited in scope perhaps, is the recent volume edited by David Gordon White, Yoga in Practice (Princeton Readings in Religion; Princeton: Princeton University Press, 2012). Both Singleton and Mallinson have essays and translations in there too (on the Yoga Makaranda and Gorakṣaśataka, respectively). I recommend the book.
Sounds interesting. David Gordon White has written another book on the history of yoga titled Sinister Yogis.
I would recommend this, if you don't mind reading academic books :)

Hi Isac. i was looking at Yoga in Practice in Watkinsbooks yesterday, just flicking through, missed Mark's Yoga Makaranda paper.
I've heard of Sinister Yogis, title put me off a little, but sure to get my hands on a copy sometime or other, will look out for it again.

Suggests we might get something a little more substantial and of more enduring value...fingers crossed.
I have my concerns though and hate the funding approach, too many contradictions.
Still, like the idea of a source book, hopefully just the texts and the briefest of introductions and explanatory notes, just allow the texts to speak for themselves. Oh and pictures lots of pictures.
