So as I mentioned, I'm trying to take a week or two break from all the intensive back bending I've been doing lately. This break hasn't been made an easier by Lydia posting an excellent back bending tutorial with a 13 minute video.
She begins
"A cause of pain in back bending can be too much forward tilt in your pelvis. (Anterior Tilt). This action limits the hips from extending and lifts the back waist causing too much compression in the lower back and jams the tailbone. Perhaps you've felt it? ....... " http://beingwithyoga.blogspot.com/2009/02/experiment-with-back-bending.html,
Can't wait to try some of this stuff.
It was Lydia who posted those great Press to Handstand videos a short while ago that I went on about here

thanks for letting me know the link! i am still struggling to stand up, even though my hands lifts a little bit when trying to stand up.
btw your handstand is beautiful!
...considering a move to squamish....
Thanks Moo, Did you notice how Lydia doesn't drop her head back till the last minute, interesting.Wasnt to try that when i start backbending again next week.
See you there ebeans,(bet you went to googlemaps to try and find where the hell it is) oh and did you see her Press to handstand tutorial with the shot of her slackwire at the beginning, have to get one of them.
Grimmly,
I did realize about her head, amazing. I wonder how she can do that... I tend to bring my head back from the beginning, thinking it is the way to keep my heart open, all the more i tend to keep the area closed and my teacher always tell me to keep my heart or chest area open... I'll try it next week though. BTW do you know any good yoga place in Manchester? I may visit UK soon!? :)
I know of several places in London but haven't heard anything about Ashtanga in manchester, anyone else know of anything? What's bringing you to the UK?
I also know there are quite a number in london, but so far found just a few in manchester, though i may not have time to go.. thanks anyway. I'll go there on business. Hopefully i will find a way to stop over in london or somewhere in europe for holiday!
I'll try the dropback with my chin to the throat later today!
