I admit I wasn't taking this asana very seriously, but have been brought to see the error of my ways.Had been thinking I'm doing it completely wrong but after trawling Youtube and Google I seem to be doing it pretty much the same as everyone else bar Swenson, who seems to manage a quite remarkable lightness. My favourite though is this one from a led Intermediate in Mysore. http://vodpod.com/watch/1421786-nakrasana-led-intermediate-class-mysore-india-on-flickr-photo-sharing
So here is the silliness and below in Slow-mo.

Movement initiates from MB and hands, not low back, feet or arms.
Hard.
Also, triceps flush with the torso, elbows graze the lats, radius/ulna perpendicular to floor and humerus. To take stress out of the traps and protect elbows.
hmmm no lightning sparks coming out of my fingers. hard indeed. thanks for this. Think my head is supposed to be up too, no?
Eventually.
I love the first photo... looks so perfect with your prone self right under it! I'm thinking Stayin' Alive, from Saturday Night Fever might be a good Nakrasana track. (but might encourage too much hip action, ha ha!)
Interesting, Owl, my teacher was just telling me to pay attention to the power in the hands during Nakrasana because I can use that same strength when trying to come up from Karanda! (with bandhas, of course... can't ever forget those suckers)
I love a good asana break down.
Nakrasana is hard!!
Also, ankles should be touching each other throughout the pose.
Nice job.
