Ashtanga yoga is a magical, dynamic system of yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy in Mysore, India that is comprised of six series of postures. In this DVD set, Kino MacGregor presents the Intermediate or Second Series of Ashtanga yoga. Called Nadi Shodhana in Sanskrit, this group of postures cleanses the nervous system through a rigorous combination of backbending, twisting, hip-opening and strength postures or asanas.
The first disc in this DVD set begins with Kino's insights on this powerful practice and then moves directly into the first segment demonstrating the Intermediate Series as Kino learned it from her teachers in India. While the Second Series is best learned under the guidance of a qualified teacher, you can use this documentation to inspire, deepen and develop your practice. The second disc in this DVD set, called "How to Work," gives you more explanation, pointers and tips on how best to safely approach some of the most challenging asanas in the series. Taken together, this DVD set serves as a comprehensive guide to Ashtanga yoga's Intermediate Series.

Here's a link to my review of her Primary http://preview.tinyurl.com/p46fff and obviously I'll review her Intermediate here once I get my hands on a copy, hopefully in a week or two.

wow. I look forward to your review when you get the DVD!
I laughed when she said something like, "Though it's only the 2nd series..." ONLY the 2nd series!? Intermediate is HARD! Most people don't even get there! ha!
She's amazing- so controlled and graceful. Her Mayurasana kicks ass (though, it's difficult to pick out one single pose she does well- the whole shebang is pretty awesome).
I wonder if she talks to SKPJ or Sharath or whoever... about making practice videos. Not everyone has access to a teacher- or can make it to a shala- seems nice to have the information somehow. I mean, look at you!!
Hi Liz, Just found out we have to wait until the summer. Grrr want to see what she has to say about Karandavasana now!
Did you see her Kapo half way into the promo. Forget reaching the toes or even the ankles, she slides her hands all the way up her calfs to the back of her knees. Iina.
oh, I saw it!! It's like my mind can't even comprehend it!
Of course!! Karanda! Didn't even think about it (I guess I'm slipping on Karanda Fever). Summer is near...
Grrrr?
If her kapotasana is that deep, it may be that she's practiced it regularly for many, many years. (Or she's a natural? There are some out there.)
My experience was that I went to the heels (or less) every day for about 3 or 4 years before there was another shift to go any deeper than that.
ha ha! Grrrr!!!
Owl, good to know about Kapo. I've been grabbing heals for a little over a year now. Still get it daily (unless I'm super decrepit), but it's not a piece of cake. I'd love to one day go deeper- it must feel wonderful in the chest.
Yeah call me curious as well about the "how to work" section, although not long ago a student came to my room saying that Kino had given her the Sirsasana lower-down for Karanda?
Owl, maybe I just can't work time, but isn't your whole practice something like 5 years old? I should just reread your yoga story over at A2's place.
Yes, i'm I'm not mistaken it's closer to six years now....
In physical terms: one dramatic opening early on, a long strength-building plateau, a serious injury, another gradual strengthening climb, a second and unexpected opening, and again a plateau.
Love Kino!!
Her Dvd's are Amazing~~and she placed an order for some of the "Practice for the children Pendants" the other day with me to carry at her Yoga Shala in Miami~~Loved that!! Namaste~~
Did you review the DVD? How is the "how to" section? I remember thinking her primary DVD was great if not just for her "how to" instructions and demonstrations. I liked her Intermediate book, though. Is that an indication I might enjoy the DVD?
Hi Mike. I don't seem to have reviewed it although I do mention it in this post from the following month, I seem to have found it useful.

I don't have it anymore, gave her books and dvd's away along with most of my others when I left UK for Japan. Of all the dvd's i've bought and/or reviewed in the past it's only really Richard Freeman's that I tend to revisit, finding something new each time I practice along (even ten years later). If you liked her primary then you'll probably enjoy this as it has the same format with a second DVD of practice tips/hints etc.
