Just playing with this and seeing how each asana prepares you for the next. This followed other seated sub-routines that helped to open the hips. The trousers didn't help in Dwi Pada, was getting my right in a little deeper with just shorts. Archer pose is definitely helping here. First time doing this routine so untidy and a couple of little stumbles but managed to get my leg much further behind my shoulder and felt much more comfortable. Also just before I put my leg behind my head I straightened my back a little rather than curving it down the way I had been doing, feel my back's a little straighter as a result.NOTE: Blog address now begins grimmly1997. Leg behind head Sub-Routine
Also just before I put my leg behind my head I straightened my back a little rather than curving it down the way I had been doing, feel my back's a little straighter as a result.

THis is one pose where I really, really felt the affects of letting time and practice take over. I started with, "there is no way this is possible and I hate it" to being able to do it with ease, loving the incredible hip stretch it gives me. But it took time to get from A to B. It's a great lesson I learned about my practice (definite study in patience)- if I don't fixate and push things, they eventually work themselves out. All it takes it getting on the mat day after day!
Looking good, by the way!
Aren't they all like that Liz. All the poses you can't do right away. A decent forward bend took me a year and a half. Marichyasana, Kapo, LBH, none of them will be rushed.
And yet we can help them on their way no? Isn't that what the adjustments are all about in the shala Pulling you deeper and deeper into the pose. Always sounded a bit scary to me ( I heard Guruji's adjustments could be terrifying). I don't have to worry about that practicing at home, seems to make more sense anyway to add a couple more preparatory asana, I've always added a couple of hip openers from primary before doing LBH in 2nd.
I Like this Sequence, especially the gently laying back in ekapada sirasana, got it about right today, much more stable (all over the place in this video), makes a nice stretch, will always add it to my 2nd now after Ekapada B and before C, why wait till 3rd, makes so much more sense here.
Hey Grimmly- for SURE the postures work themselves out that way, but I guess (for me) the LBH poses weren't something I was being assisted with (until I could do them and then I get cranked way deep on occasion), and I didn't "push" myself too much with them. They're not about strength (easy to build), or balance (well... not much!), they're simply about flexibility. I just found that I eventually opened up enough to do them by going bit by bit, day by day... am I making sense? Other poses I've struggled with (Marichyasana C, D for example) were achieved quicker through assistance.
